Critical flow centrality measures on interdependent networks with time-varying demands

This paper presents a method that allows urban planners and municipal engineers to identify critical components of interdependent infrastructure systems. The intent the is provide means modeling impact capacity-related changes (e.g., population growth, component degradation) on city’s ability deliver resources locations. Infrastructure systems are modeled as flow networks in which capacities, demands, supply constraints vary over time; demand nodes also have criticality ratings allow user model levels importance. Interconnections between represented by physical geospatial dependencies at level. A flow-based centrality measure used rank according their role delivery simple instantiation presented evaluated district-scale city contains interconnected water electricity networks. Finally, two forms reliability analysis demonstrated: composite incorporating edge reliability, variation standard failure/degradation analysis.
